Daily Photo
That’s an ambitious title, so we’ll see what “daily” turns out to mean. The idea is to add some motivation to shoot every day, and to try to get at least one shot that isn’t embarrassing to share.
Each photo links to an Instagram post, where you can add a comment if you like.
Squarespace only allows comments on blogs, and I don’t want to structure this page like a blog. So there.
Playing around with shutter speed and wind intensity.
The right side of the rear bush is relatively undisturbed by the wind.
Rainstorm at Rowley's after my return from SC. Taken 2025/06/27. Posted 2025/07/01.
Strawberry moon. Need to find a location without power lines before the next one. 2026/06/11

Warped reflection in a large TV screen. This came from a photo cohort exercise to shoot things I normally don't pay attention to. The original photo was the whole reflection in the wide-screen TV. A fellow cohort-member suggested cropping vertically to the most colorful and extreme part of the image, with the non-reflected table for contrast.
Black chinned hummingbird on back deck feeder. First photo that's good enough to share. Will get better. 2025/06/05

Glad to see bees still exist! 2025/06/02
And I had to mess around with my fisheye to try to capture the "candles". 2025/05/29
I thought these things looked a lot like little candles sticking up straight on the tree/shrub when I saw them from inside the house. Then I went out and saw the buds. 2025/05/29
We get some fascinating skies around here. I was 15 seconds late getting the best color, but I still think this is interesting. 2025/05/25 (posted the 29th)
Continuing experiments with tripod and remote. I have some things to learn about precise focus on clouds. But I find them fascinating. 2025/05/25
I've never had any interest in taking landscapes. Now I live in one. Up to the fence, this is our front yard. As a first exploration of "how do I take a photo that conveys this at all" I'm not unhappy. 2025/05/21
Trying out tripod and remote shutter with 300mm lens. Worked ok in spite of trouble with the remote. This is a Western Bluebird. 2025/05/20
Purple finch, same setup as the bluebird. 2025/05/20
Playing with my fisheye lens between rain showers. 2025/05/19
